Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Contract Position: 16-20 hours/week

Salary Range: $20-$22/hr

Location: We are accepting and prioritizing submissions from candidates located in Colorado, Oregon, Washington and New York. All of our staff work remotely.

Job Summary

The Good Meat Project is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to fill a flexible contract position. Ideal candidates are those who are well-organized and yet can thrive in a dynamic workplace, who are trustworthy and dependable, and who enjoy working as a close part of a team. Candidates will be expected to embrace both small tasks and major projects independently and must have a proven ability to support a high-level team and the willingness to roll up their sleeves.

This position will begin no later than May 1, 2024. This position will be contracted initially, to provide assistance to the Good Meat Project’s management staff members.


The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Executive Director, and will work closely with other GMP staff. The Administrative Assistant may collaborate with other staff to ensure consistency and quality across administrative tasks. The Administrative Assistant will support day-to-day tasks associated with long and short term projects that keep the Good Meat Project and its team running smoothly.

Primary Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide administrative support, including composing and answering emails and providing outreach assistance
  • Manage record keeping, reports, files, and data, including travel reimbursements, expenses and other related bookkeeping tasks
  • Provide general administrative support with scheduling, and video conferencing meetings
  • Respond to general inquiries in a timely, customer-friendly manner
  • Provide support in proofreading documents for congruency, accuracy, document formatting, and completeness
  • Data input support for projects and/or our customer relationship management software and run reports as needed and requested
  • Track, maintain, and monitor contract-related documentation to ensure compliance with due dates for contract applications, audits, renewals, and reporting
  • Submit and upload invoices and receipts as needed
  • Lead ad hoc projects to enhance organizational efficiency


Required Qualifications

  • Reliable internet service
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters may be required
  • Positive individual with integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management, organization and attention to detail
  • Competency working with Google Drive
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and performing the basic mathematical functions needed for standard bookkeeping tasks
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software systems with relative speed and ease (e.g., software/CRM/payment system portal)
  • Able to work with limited supervision, but does not hesitate to ask questions or ask for assistance when needed
  • Team player willing to support or research programming, fundraising, and other activities on occasion
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

  • Resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
  • Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
  • Bookkeeping experience or exposure to financial systems a plus
  • Exposure or direct HR experience a plus
  • Experience with event planning or event management a plus
  • Previous nonprofit experience a plus
  • Previous meat or food or meat industry experience a plus
